Skimming

Skimming is done to update old, rough and tired walls bringing them back to a smooth finish.

Artex back to flat is a common part in the trade where textured artex is skimmed to give a smooth finish

Coving is a decorative moulding to either add character and decoration to the room or cover cracks on the join between walls and ceiling. Coving can be made in various materials from traditional gypsum plaster or to a more modern hardened Polyurethanes

Float and set is a traditional style of plastering that requires a two coat system such as a sand and cement or browning/bonding coat that’s applied to around 11mm and finished with a skim coat of around 2/3mm giving you a finished solid wall.

Plasterboard/Overboarding is applied to either timber joist, metal frame or plaster adhesive. It gives the substrate more strength and helps stop movement to eliminate cracking.

Rendering is the process of applying a coat of sand and cement on external walls to make a smooth finish. Rendering makes your walls more durable and making it water repellent. Lime is used in the mixture that makes the walls ‘breathable’ thereby allowing moisture to escape
